The 12 Rashis

The Rashi chart is divided into 12 signs starting from Mesha and ending with Meena. The chart is drawn as follows:

The Vedic names western names, Adhipati (ruling planets) and their symbols for the 12 zodiac signs are:

Ancient astrology started the signs from Mesha. Some reason this may be because the hindu year starts from yugadi, when the sun or earth enters aries that day is Suramana Yugadi or Mesha sankramana. On
this day Sun completes his travel in the southern hemisphere and equator at Aries 0 degree.
The Sun and the Moon come together 12 times in a year. Same way they are equidistant 12 times. So the Rishis divided the zodiac into 12 parts. Each division is named based on stars and their shape

The Rashis have various karakatvas (features):
    • Positive and negative signs
    • Odd and even signs
    • Masculine and Feminine signs.
    • Chara, shtira, Dis-svabhava (Movable, Fixed and Dual)
    • Agni ,Pritvi,Vaayu,Jaala (elements)

Each of the Karakatvas have different characteristics and the various combinations are what make each rashi different from the other. Your Rashi will be different according to western astrology and Vedic Astrology. To know what is your Vedic Zodiac sign, you need the following details:
